ALPINE VALLEY (262)642-7374
Lake Geneva area golf course review
In the Kettle Moraine area of Southern Wisconsin, Alpine Valley Resort offers picturesque 9 and 18 hole
courses set along the banks of Sugar Creek and in the surrounding wooded areas. Alpine Valley is a unique
year-round resort, offering on-slope lodging during the winter ski season, golf during warm weather and a
myriad of recreational activities year round. Although this is a 27-hole layout, the photography was taken on the Summit/Meadows course.
On property there is a Pro shop, Alpine Dining Room serving breakfast lunch and dinner, and the Valley View
Lounge. Practice facilities include a short iron practice range and a spacious short game practice green for
chipping and putting. A variety of lessons from a staff of golf professionals are also available.
There are 3 sets of tees that play to distances and slopes that measure as follows:
The Summit/Meadows plays to 6107 yards with a 125 slope, 5793 yards, and 5090 yards for ladies hitting from
the front tee areas. The Meadows/Sugar Creek plays to 6018 yards with a slope of 124, 5699 yards, and 5042
for ladies. And the Sugar Creek/ Summit plays to 5873 yards with a 123 slope, 5674 yards, and 4926 yards for ladies.
Yardage info is not hard to find from anywhere on the course. 100, 150, 200 and 250 yard markers in the
fairways are measured to center of the green to help with club selection while on the approach. Small
indicators on the flagsticks provide golfers with a front, middle, or back hole location on each green.
There are 65 strategically placed sand bunkers and water plays an important role in the design as 13 holes
have hazards in play in some shape or form. Elevated Tee boxes and greens add a significant elevation
changes to this layout which still provides some flat landing zones causing even lies. Putting surfaces, although
sometimes elevated, are on fairly even ground causing very little slope or undulation.
