Balmoral Woods Country Club in Crete, approximately 40 miles south of Downtown Chicago, is par 72
eighteen hole Championship golf course. Awarded 4 out of 5 stars from Golf Digest Places to Play, this Don
Mortell designed layout is a must play in the Chicago area. The course was built in 1975 and has hosted many
local and state events and tournaments and is the annual home of the Will County Amateur Championship.
There are three sets of tee boxes which play to distances and slopes measuring 6625 yards/131 slope from the
back tees, 6284 yards/128 slope from the middle set, and from the front, 5147 yards, with a slope of 123 for
women. 30 sand bunkers are situated along the landing zones or greenside and water hazards come into play on eleven holes.
Numerous water hazards, tree lined fairways, and mounded, sloping landing areas on many holes provide
challenge for all skill levels. Off the tees golfers will frequently encounter tree lined playing surfaces, with lakes
and ponds squeezing the landing zones on 8 of the holes. An even lie is not easily found on the lush rolling
fairways or demanding rough. The design plays consistently uphill but the flat terrain near the mildly undulating
putting surfaces provides a respite, and allow for some reasonable up & down opportunities.
Yardage distances are well marked on the fairways with small colored stakes measured to the center of the
greens from 100, 150 and 200 yards on all par fours and fives. Sprinkler heads are also conveniently marked
and are abundant. Front, middle and back hole locations are indicated with red, white and blue flags on each green.
Inside each golf cart, there is a hole diagram book complete with yardage information and detailed descriptions
of each hole. The practice facility at this beautiful club includes a grass driving range and a large practice
putting green. The clubhouse features a pro shop, restaurant and bar, a banquet area and locker rooms for men and woman. This is the home of the Bill Abrams Golf Solutions Academy.
Balmoral Woods is a great location for group outings and events, with packages available that include friendly,
