BLACKSTONE GOLF COURSE (815) 923-1800
Chicago golf review
Blackstone Golf Course features 26 acres of environmentally protected wetlands, lush bent grass fairways and greens, and some of the best views on any golf course in the
Chicagoland area. There are 54 sand bunkers that have been strategically placed near fairway landing zones, and alongside the green complexes. Nine holes stretching through
dense forests of Oak and Hickory and unique, enthralling wetlands come into play on 13 holes.
On property is an 18 hole championship course, practice area, and a beautiful clubhouse that features a nicely appointed golf shop, locker rooms with showers, The Grill Room
that is opened Saturday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and The Blackstone Restaurant that is open Monday to Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday to Sunday
from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.. The practice facility includes a targeted grass range and a short game practice green used for both chipping and putting.
The views from the large tee boxes are beautiful. Wide fairway landing zones provide room for some error off the tees, but the rough is hilly and thick making it difficult to hit the
ball cleanly. The terrain is sloping, and sometimes will lead the ball to roll toward hazards on the fairways. Some greens are elevated with collection areas that will attract mis-hit
approaches. Others are surrounded by mounding, making up and down opportunities a chore.
Golf carts provide club protection as well as USB ports. The scorecards also include diagrams of each putting complex, with pin placement info on the 3 possible hole locations
, front, middle, and back. All of this info will help golfers concentrate on their swing rather than having to guess when it comes to club selection.
Five sets of tee's are measured in distances and slopes of 6734 yards/139 slope, 6541 yards/136 slope, 6210 yards/131 slope, 5766 yards/125 slope, and 4932 yards with a
slope of 120. As the slopes indicate, this is a very challenging course, but with five tee boxes to choose from, golfers of all skill levels are welcome to enjoy a round at Blackstone.
