GLENDALE LAKES GOLF CLUB (630)260-0018
Chicago Golf Course Review - June 2007
Glendale Lakes is a par 71, 6175 yard 18 hole championship design in Glendale Heights, located just south of
Chicago. Designed by Dick Nugent, Glendale Lakes is decorated by water hazards which provide most of the
challenge, and has been known as a thinking golfer's course. It is truly a beautifully manicured layout.
There are three sets of tee boxes which play to distances and slopes measuring 6175 yards/125 slope from the
back tees, 5898 yards/122 slope from the middle set, and from the front, 4950 yards, with a slope of 121 for
woman. In total there are 33 sand bunkers, only 14 of which are placed on the front nine, and four of the 18
holes are sand free. Water comes into play on 12 holes, with 4 on the back nine featuring multiple water hazards on either side of the fairways and greens.
The layout is mixed with combinations of wide landing areas and tight holes with water hazards challenging tee
shots and approaches. Holes 2, 3, 4, and 7 circle the perimeter of a large lake. This provides most of the
difficulty for golfers on the front nine. Holes 10, 13 and 17 feature water hazards on both sides of the fairways
and greens. Up and down opportunities are not easily accomplished from behind the greens as there is plenty of mounding.
On course yardage is measured to the middle of the green from colored plates on the fairways from 100, 150,
and 200 yards away. Sprinkler heads are also conveniently marked with distances measured to the center.
Small flags situated on the bottom, middle, and top the pin at each green determining a front, middle and back hole location.
The clubhouse features a well stocked pro shop, a restaurant serving lunch and dinner Wednesday through
Friday, and a Sunday breakfast buffet. There is a banquet area, and locker rooms with showers. The practice facility includes a putting and chipping green for players to warm up before their round.
Glendale Lakes is an enjoyable and affordable golf experience recommended for golfers of all skill levels. For
