HILLDALE GOLF COURSE (847)310-1100
Chicago Golf Course Review 6/4/07
Hilldale Golf Club in Hoffman Estates is a beautiful par 71, 18-hole championship design featuring plentiful
water hazards and strategic bunkering along a rolling terrain. On property are two restaurants - CK Mulligan's Bar & Grill and Nippon Kai Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar.
There is a full service practice facility with targeted grass range, short game area with sand bunker and putting
green. The clubhouse at Hilldale features a nicely stocked pro shop plus locker rooms with showers for men and women.
On course yardage markers are positioned on the fairways at 100, 150 and 200 yards and sprinkler heads are
measured to the green on all par fours and fives. There also are flags in the fairways (American flags) and pin
placement sheets posted in the carts provide information on the day's hole locations. Golfers (and especially
first time visitors) will appreciate the detailed hole diagram booklets that are standard on each cart.
There are 4 sets of tees at Hilldale, which play to distances and slopes measuring 6432 yards/135 slope, 5931
yards/130 slope, 5564 yards/126 slope, and 5133 yards with a slope of 125 for women hitting from the forward
sets. It is unusual for a course of this length - relatively short - to earn such high slopes. Undulating fairways with
gradual elevation changes, daunting water hazards and tree lined playing surfaces combine to make this a formidable experience.
Water, in the form of ponds and crossing creeks, comes into play on 12 holes, including some forced carries off
the tee and on the approach. 54 soft sand bunkers are strategically located near the landing zones or are positioned greenside, providing character and challenge.
this is a very pretty course, and certainly an interesting golf experience - and the price structure is quite reasonable. For more info, visit our page for Hilldale, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
