MIDLANE GOLF CLUB at Midland Golf Resort & Suites (847-623-4653)
Chicago Golf Course Review June 2007
Midlane Golf Club is the centerpiece of the Midlane Resort & Suites - a full service resort featuring Hawthorne
Suite accommodations, indoor & outdoor pool, water park, fitness center, dining and entertainment, and
facilities for banquets and business meetings. The property is located one hour north of Chicago and 1 hour
south of Milwaukee. For more info on this resort property, visit their website by clicking here: www.midlaneresort.com
The golf facilities include an 18-hole championship golf course with full service practice facility, including
adjacent putting green, short game area with sand bunker and grass driving range. Lessons of all types are
available though a staff of qualified instructors. The clubhouse features a pro shop, locker rooms with showers plus a restaurant/lounge that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
There are four sets of tee boxes that play to distances and slopes measuring 6848 yards/138 slope, 6494
yards/134 slope, 6159 yards/131 slope and 5021 yards with a slope of 125 from the forward tees. As these
ratings and yardages indicate - this is not your typical resort course. 44 soft sand bunkers are situated near the landing zones off the tee or greenside, and water also plays a formidable role.
Ponds and lakes come into play on 13 holes, with some forced carries. The dogleg left par four 3rd is an
especially beautiful hole, with a lake reachable off the tee on the right and majestic willow trees also providing
the need for accurate shot placement. The par five 4th demands a carry on the approach as does the par four 6th. The par three 17th is also all carry over a pond.
On course yardage plates are posted on the sides of the fairways, 150 yard stakes are positioned in the center
, and sprinkler heads are also measured to the center of the green. Color coded flags indicate the day's front,
middle or back hole locations on mildly undulating greens, which frequently are protected by mounds and sand
traps. Stay and play packages are available, but this course is also open to the general public. For more info, visit our page for Midlane with direct link to their website by clicking here.
