ARBORETUM GOLF CLUB (847-913-1112)
Chicago Golf Course Review
The Arboretum Club in Buffalo Grove is an 18-hole Dick Nugent designed championship course laid out over 100 acres of rolling bent grass fairways bordered by a large variety of
trees and wildflowers,as it meanders through an upscale residential community. With ample landing zones and wonderful conditioning, this course can be enjoyed by all levels of
players. Experienced golfers will appreciate the variety of contoured green complexes - some level and open in front while others are raised and well protected by bunkers,
mounding and grassy swales.
The facilities on property include a large practice green and warm up stations with hitting nets (no range), plus a full service clubhouse. There is a pro shop, locker rooms with
showers, the Wild Goose Restaurant/lounge offering fine food in a relaxing bistro atmosphere, plus banquet/outing room with a 300 person capacity for outings and special
events. This facility includes a dramatic 25 foot foyer, private rooms, separate restrooms with extensive counter space, impeccable sound system and valet parking/coat check
options available.
Players are treated to weather covers and the Par View GPS that is standard on all carts, providing hole diagrams, tips, and reliable yardages from tee to pin. Cart paths are also
marked at 100, 150 and 200 yards, and sprinkler heads are measured to the center of the green. 150 yard stakes double as directional devices on par fours and fives. Scorecards
also proved hole diagrams and yardages, which should help players avoid some of the many strategically located water hazards.
In total, there are 71 sand bunkers located along the fairways or greenside, and water in the shape of ponds, creeks and marsh lands come into play on 15 holes. Most are
located on the perimeters, but there are a few forced carries. Three sets of tee boxes afford golfers with the choice of playing to distances and slopes measuring 6467 yards/132
slope, 6093 yards/128 slope and 5019 yards with a slope of 118 from the forward sets. While not overly long, this course is challenging due to the many hazards and the
contoured putting complexes.
Creeks dissect the fairways and affect the approach shots of the 8th, 11th and 13th holes, and three of the four beautiful par threes are also significantly protected by water
hazards. This is a fun and challenging golf experience, and one that we highly recommend. For more info, visit our page for the Arboretum Club, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
