BOLINGBROOK GOLF CLUB (630-771-9400)
Chicago Golf Course Review
Bolingbrook is an upscale golf property featuring an Arthur Hills designed golf course, wand aesthetic ambiance that has led golf publications to recognize it as one of
Chicagoland's premier golf facilities. In fact, this is one of the most complete golf properties we have experienced - period! First of all, the Golf Academy is one of the area's best
facilities, with a 14,500 square foot putting green, a bent grass range with 65 tee stations positioned towards 12 target greens (lit for night practice - until 9 PM), plus a unique
short game area with bunkers, mounding and slopes designed for practice of specialty shots. There are also two practice holes. The practice facility for Bolingbrook was voted as
the Best New Driving Range by Golf Range Magazine in 2003! The Rabito Golf School is on property, with technologically advanced lessons from established pros including Carl
Rabito himself - certified trainer/instructor for players on the PGA, LPGA, Champions, Nationwide, Hooters and Futures Tours! The Golf Academy is located adjacent to the course
and is open to the public, and a large practice green and range (stacks of complimentary balls await paying customers) are also situated near the clubhouse.
The humungous clubhouse (76,000 square feet), which has been voted the #1 Clubhouse in Illinois, has some incredible features, including: a full service 2,200 square foot pro
shop with golf attire and accessories plus club fitting, wonderfully appointed men's and women's locker rooms/lounges, the Nest Bar & Grill which can accommodate over 100
people for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and the East Room - which is a fine dining establishment that garnered raves from Chicago's "Dining Around Town" restaurant critics. Green
-fee paying guests are members for the day and can enjoy the spacious workout facility which features the latest equipment, as well as the sauna, steam and whirlpool. The
George Bush Boardroom can facilitate intimate corporate meetings of up to 16, and the Reagan Grand Ballroom provides state of the art banquet/special events space that can
accommodate from 20 to 900 people, with the flexibility to divide into 5 individual rooms accommodating groups of 60 to 300.
All this, and we have not even mentioned the golf course! Bolingbrook features 5 sets of tees with distances and slopes measuring 7104 yards/130 slope, 6777 yards/126 slope,
6480 yards/123 slope, 5878 yards/116 slope for men and 123 for women, and 4931 yards with s slope rating of 112. Their website (link provided through the informational page -
on the end of this review) provides pictures, descriptions and visual/audio tips on how to play each hole - great feature!
The course marking system includes the Yamatrack GPS, top of the line system that provides hole diagrams, tips and accurate yardages from tee to pin. Walking is allowed
however, and Bolingbrook takes this into consideration, supplying 150 yard stakes, marked sprinkler heads (measured to front, middle and back),and color coded flags on the
greens for front, middle and back pin placement. The carts include an ice chest, ball and club washers, plus weather covers to protect the golf bags on rainy days.
The terrain at Bolingbrook is remarkably rolling, with some elevated tee areas. The links design provides ample landing areas on the well conditioned fairways, but golfers will
have to navigate the considerable water hazards (water in play on 14 holes) and abundant sand bunkers (84 in total) that are located greenside and along the fairways. Bump and
run chips and recoveries are possible on many holes, though if golfers miss to the wrong side, high lobs and pitches may be necessary to recover from the greenside swales
and collection areas. The putting surfaces are medium in size and mild in slope and undulation. Golfers will especially remember two holes - the 600 yard par five 5th, which
plays into the prevailing wind, and the par three fifteenth - which plays to a true island green.
Bolingbrook is a world class golf experience, with practice facilities and a clubhouse to match. With all the amenities - it can truly be said that golfers are treated to a private club
experience - at public rates! Located just 30 minutes from downtown and just minutes off Highway 55, this property can be conveniently reached from all points. This is truly a
"must play" in the Chicago area - and is highly rated by twoguyswhogolf.com. For more info and for a link to the properties great website, visit our page for Bolingbrook from our
