General information
Silver Lake Country Club in Orland Park (south of Chicago) is a 45-hole championship golf facility featuring two distinctive 18-hole designs plus Rolling Hills - a nine-hole
executive course. Located just 45 minutes from downtown, this 300 acre property is known for its superb teaching facilities, which are recognized as the best in the region.
These facilities include a spacious targeted grass range, short game area with sand bunker, plus putting and chipping greens. There also is an 18-passenger mobile classroom
that offers video swing analysis and playback! Private and group lessons plus playing lessons are available through a staff of certified PGA certified instructors. From November
through March, the Indoor Lesson Center offers various programs using the latest in video analysis and technology.
In 2007 the rates for the championship courses top out at $51.50 weekdays and $57.50 weekends including carts, making this one of the areas better golf values. The executive
layout was priced at under $25 prime time. Yardage markers are posted on the course at 100, 150 and 200 yards on all par fours and fives, and color coded flags indicate nthe
day's front, middle or back hole locations.
SOUTH COURSE
The South course at Silver Lake is the shorter of the two championship layouts on property - and is a par 70 design built over a rolling terrain with some gentle elevation changes
from tee to green. Strategic fairway and greenside bunkering plays a prominent role, as 47 soft sand yard traps are scattered about the course. Water hazards, including some
forced carries, come into play on 7 of the holes.
There are 4 sets of tee boxes which play to distances and slopes measuring 6310 yards/120 slope, 5948 yards/116 slope, 5371 yards/110 slope for men and 121 for women,
and 4927 yards with a slope of 116 for ladies hitting from the front tees. As these ratings indicate, this is a player friendly layout that be enjoyed by golfers of all skill levels. For
